Overview
convert4print are different converter programs for use on computers or servers with Windows as operating system. The computers take over the conversion for several printers at the same time. A network service is installed which runs in the background without anyone being logged on to the computer. The printers can be installed locally on the server or in the network.
The converters analyze the print data stream received via the network and convert it into the data stream of the respective target printer.
The following matrix shows for which combination of input data stream and printer data streams converters are currently available:
Output data stream for printers | Gateway | ||||||
HP PCL5 |
IBM Proprinter |
Epson ESC/P |
Eltron EPL II |
Zebra ZPL2 |
PDF / PNG / TIFF |
||
Input data stream / Converter |
IPDS | x | x | x | x | x | x |
IGP/PGL | x | x | x | x | x | ||
ZPL2 | x | x | |||||
Flash | x | x | x | x | x | x | |
Barcode | x | x | |||||
Prescribe | x | x |
Depending on the data stream to be converted, various network protocols are supported for receiving the print data. While IPDS can only be used with IBM's own PPR/PPD protocol, the protocols RAW and LPR/LPD are supported in all other cases.
